The End of Life Physician Education Resource Center (EPERC) is a centralized, comprehensive resource for end of life physician educators. The site's key feature is now operational, allowing registrants to search for abstracts of peer reviewed educational materials – as well as funding and training opportunities, significant articles, and suggested books.

This publisher, Archipelago, provides a variety of publisher related resources for instructors with a focus on chemistry, economics and physics resources, web-sites and research and online courses in Arts & Sciences, Business, Health Sciences, and Information Technology.

Online Teaching

WebNovice - This site provides excellent explanations and "how-to" information about the Internet and computers. Topics include everything from the Low Down on Downloading to a guide to effective e-mail. Explanations are written in plain English.

Education Technologies Instructional Design Services
This site includes information about online instructional design. Click on Effective Uses of Online Course Tools for a good summary of learning activities supported by common online course tools.

Reach for the Sky - This site includes several free online courses on topics such as Learning Basic Internet Skills, Class Collaboration on the Internet, and Online Mentoring. The site was created by the Western Montana College of the University of Montana.

The Role of the Online Instructor/Facilitator
This article by Dr. Zane L. Berge contains a good description of the role of the online instructor as a facilitator and includes a list of recommended strategies to handle the pedagogical, social, managerial and technical aspects of facilitating an online course. At the end of the article there is also a long list for further resources for instructors interested in this topic.

Web Teacher
This American site, sponsored by the National Television Cable Association and Techcorps, provides introductory tutorials and information about using Internet technologies such as browsers, e-mail, searching and more advanced topics such as HTML coding, Web page development and Java scripting. Scroll down the menu on the right side of the page to see the available tutorials and primers.

University of Idaho Distance Education
This site provides good information for instructors writing or converting online courses. Under the headings Guide #3 Instructional Development for Distance Education and Guide #4, Evaluation for Distance Educators, there is step-by-step information about how to develop a course, and how and why to use evaluation strategies.

Online Educational Delivery Applications
This site produced by a team from colleges in B.C. provides an online tool to assist in the selection of online delivery software applications. This review tool allows you to compare technical and instructional specifications for selected course delivery software or to compare based on more general criteria for educators unfamiliar with the functions of online course delivery applications.

Faculty Guide to Internet from Rio Salado Community College - This site is a guide for faculty who are just starting out using the Internet in their teaching practice. It's focus is for faculty at Maricopa Community College but many of the topics are generally relevant to faculty teaching online.

Writing Effective Web pages - This site contains practical guides to designing an effective Web page. It discusses test size, layout and the use of graphics.

University of Oregon Teaching Effectiveness Program
Resources on this page include information for beginning instructors ranging from how to prepare to teach to managing a class climate; effective assessment strategies, and teaching with technology.

Engines for Educators
This site is an online book presenting short sections on a variety of topics about how people learn and how the authors believe teachers should educate students. The book was developed by the Institute for Learning Sciences at Northwestern University, Indiana. Some topics include goal-based teaching, using case studies, and experiential learning.

Case Studies - University of Tennessee, Grayson H. Walker Teaching Resource Center - This site lists why teachers use case studies, how to use them, how to select them, and case study activities.
